The dragon's egg
start using your minds built-in superpowers to your advantage

There is an experiment in psychology where you imagine a lemon.
You imagine it with all its colors, smells, and even the water beads on its surface. Then, you're asked to imagine sinking your teeth into the lemon. For most, when they take that imaginary bite, their faces will contract just as if they'd bite a real lemon.
This experiment often demonstrates how the brain can respond to vivid imagery just as it does to real sensory experiences.
This experiment proves that the mind has a tough time separating fantasy from reality, so much so that the body physically reacts to the images we play in our minds.
Why does this matter?
Fair question!
Your brain developed this link between fantasy and your body's reactions to help you survive. We don't wander off into the woods at night because we imagine the monster in the darkness. This image prevents us from wandering off and actually being eaten by a monster. Your brain gives you an image you fear, and your body literally stops moving.
If those everyday images can do that to our bodies, imagine what we could do when we start influencing those same images. That's what the dragon's egg meditation is about. It's meant to take that built-in connection between our nervous systems and our imagination and strengthen it!
We will learn how to create certain images and then let these images influence our bodies. Epic right?
But wait, there's more…
It's a proven fact that sitting straighter influences confidence, breathing right reduces anxiety and stress and making yourself smaller will increase a sense of alertness in your mind.
See the loop?
By using our fantasies, we influence our bodies, which in turn then influence our mental state.
How does it work?
I'll give you the simple practice to start with:
- Hold your hand Palm up and Imagine holding a small rock.
- Just let it lie there in the palm of your hand.
- Now imagine it turning into a dragon's egg all by itself.
- Try to feel its growing scales
- Feel the heat radiating off of it.
- Even see if you can feel some movement from inside.
Now look at your hand. Did it change position?
How about your arm? It did. Why?
The egg was only in your mind.
Wasn't it?
And that's it...
I could make this much more complicated but there's no need for that.

Tips for practice
If it didn't work:
This practice can be difficult, and you aren't broken if it didn't work for you on the first try.
Also, it's ok to be skeptical but remember that we're not trying to prove a point. We're trying to form a deeper connection from our intentions to our bodies. Here are some tips to help you along.
- Help your body along a little bit: If the body doesn't move with its own images, help it by moving it to the images yourself. Adjust your hand position to the egg when it forms. Rub your thumb across the scales. This will teach your body what you want it to do so it can do so better on its own the next time you practice
If it did work: How to deepen the practice
- Create your own images to match your state: The dragon's egg is just an introduction to this practice. You can add any image you want. From bouncing a fireball between your hands to adding an imaginary spring to your step. Have fun with this, and see how far you can take it.
- Add the music that matches your state. Our bodies are already accustomed to reacting to music. I like to add music to my image, such as Dwarven Metal (it's a thing) or Celtic Music for the dragon's egg. Or the Super Mario theme song for the fireball bounce. Again, this is up to you!
That's it.
